Increasing national and state-level legislation seeks to curb data-broker activity — but is that the better route?
After looking at all the sweeping legislative trends in data privacy in 2021, it’s a wonder why nobody is suggesting internal solutions instead of overall “comprehensive” bills.
It takes a lot of work to be involved in legitimate data regulation–especially since the commercial world depends on this information (i.e., advertising, medical, financial, industrial safety, etc.).
I couldn’t help but think that there could be better solutions within the industry to make sure consumers are protected instead of bringing a hammer on any business conducting themselves responsibly.
One way to do this (perhaps) is by providing tools and training to those who use the data every single day. So many libraries exist to help data engineers to organize quality records. There must be better ways out there and Public * Recorders will always seek ways of finding them.
